Grief Shatters All Hope. For P...(Completed Poem).

Now you have gone
I am lost in a self made maze of metal and glass
Through which I can glimpse distorted images
Of all things past,
But tomorrow is just a darkness,
A shadow on the retina that terrifies
As though the onset of blindness
Is imminent and not to be avoided.
This is the jail I have built for myself from grief,
A jail that I can never now cut free from
Although I have made the cells, the locks, the keys
With my own self deceptions and anxieties.

Now you are gone love is out of the question,
All the new faces I see are blank - are meaningless.
Dreams - the past reimagined. - my one reality;
The truth is far too brutal - far too harrowing.

Blow Up. In Memoriam Jane.(Completed Poem).

Weighed down with guilt for actions not taken,
But all too easily imagined,
I was forced to take cover for three long hours
In a clump of trees, pistol held ready.

Forbidden to move I waited alone
For my mates to stop acting their silent roles.
The director was speaking his elegant Italian.
The gun got too heavy for my aching right hand.

Later, in the pub,
A ten pound note new to my pocket,
I watched the actors nursing their pints
While talking shop to fend off strangers.

Far far different from the part that she played
Of a pesky teen model with fake blonde hair
Ransacking a studio to get herself hired,
Jane Birkin sat quietly with her friends.

She seemed rock solid, at ease in her skin,
A young married mother, not yet twenty.
Sure footed she`d skipped on the top of a wall
That I, accident prone, was too scared to climb.

Time has passed on, too fast for the both of us.
I have spent this week mourning a lass unparalleled,
A Parisian icon, straight out of Chelsea,
Who combined French chic with Kings Road flair.

Now she has gone, taking a whole world with her,
A moment in time to which I belonged.
To step back only leads to blocked off pathways
That fall away once dreams depart.

No, I do not cry for what I have lost;
I cry for a girl who can sing no more.

Letting the Light In. For S.... Revised & Completed Poem. (plus 1 painting)

Thinking only in black and white
I dipped the pencil into water
Then drew thick lines, squares and circles,
Onto the rough grained paper.
But suddenly I remembered your morning
                                                           smile,
Radiant with Southdown sunlight,
And, ceasing to plan ahead, to value order,
I grabbed every colour that seemed entirely
                                                            right
To dance an anarchic dazzle
Over the vacant spaces.
I have never been able to tell you how
                                        fabulous you are,
Especially you skating the width and
                                         breadth of town,
Chasing the seagulls with a laugh and a shout.
To me you are the midsummer`s morning
                       gatecrashing the revels of night.

Trevor John Karsavin Potter,
10th. - 16th. July 2023.

For me the kingdom of night is England under Johnson and Sunak.
The girl in this poem is a genuine lady, a true spreader of spiritual light.
